Chapter 13 – Bloopers 1. Sun rests under Allah's Throne

These are not just errors, faults and mistakes,; these are actually blunders, bulls, howlers and real foul-ups.

A. Where does the sun go at sunset?

Bukhari and Muslim – revered by “Scholars” as “Muththafaqun Alaihi” interprets 36:38 (Surah Yaaseen) of the Holy Quran and attributes this howler to our Holy Prophet (S);

We do not know where they are going to answer these insults to our Prophet (S)

وَالشَّمْسُ تَجْرِى لِمُسْتَقَرٍّ لَهَا ذَلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ

"And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing."

1. The Howlers by Bukhari

i. “Sahih” Bukhari Volume No. 4 Hadith Number 421

Narrated Abu Dhar:
The Prophet asked me at sunset, "Do you know where the sun goes (at the time of sunset)?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He said, "It goes (i.e. travels) till it prostrates Itself underneath the Throne and takes the permission to rise again, and it is permitted and then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered to return whence it has come and so it will rise in the west. And that is the interpretation of the Statement of Allah: "And the sun Runs its fixed course For a term (decreed). that is The Decree of (Allah) The Exalted in Might, The All-Knowing."

(Q. 36: 38)

Once I was with the Prophet in the mosque at the time of sunset. The Prophet said, "O Abu Dharr! Do you know where the sun sets?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." He said, "It goes and prostrates underneath (Allah's) Throne; and that is Allah's Statement:

'And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (decreed). And that is the decree of All-Mighty, the All-Knowing...' " (36.38)

Narrated by Abu Dharr

I asked the Prophet regarding the Verse:  "And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term decreed for it." (36.28) He said, "Its fixed course is underneath Allah's Throne."

iv. “Sahih” Al-Bukhari Hadith Volume 6. Hadith # 327

Narrated by Abu Dharr

I asked the Prophet about the Statement of Allah:

"And the sun runs on fixed course for a term (decreed),"   (36.38)

He said, "Its course is underneath Allah's Throne."

Translator’s Opinion :

(Prostration of sun, trees, stars mentioned in Qur'an and Hadith does not mean like our prostration but it means that these objects are obedient to their Creator (Allah) and they obey for what they have been created for).

The words (Bold italics - above) within brackets is a further justification by the translator with his opinion and comments.  After all, according to them - Bukhari is “Infallible” !!!!

[You can see there is no “Within Brackets” explanation in the Arabic Text]

This statement is attributed to the Prophet (S) by Bukhari – and translated as Its course is underneath Allah’s Throne”.

« مُسْتَقَرُّ - Musthaqarr means : settled, immobile, stationary, sedentary,  staying at, remaining, resident.

The translation for « مُسْتَقَرُّهَا تَحْتَ الْعَرْشِ »  therefore, should be:

(The sun) is settled under the throne – The sun is immobile under the throne – The sun is stationary, sedentary, staying, at and remaining resident under the throne.

This is absolute because the other hadithes go to the extent of saying: That it gets permission to rise again the following day.

B. Howlers from Muslim

“Sahih” Muslim is no exception – The Blunder is really classic –

It will be in prostration under the throne of Allah until it is asked to rise ..  .. ..  “And its appointed resting place is under the Throne.”

Please note that Alim CD  has excluded these hadithes from its compilation – Hadith Nos: 297, 298, 299, 300.  They certainly knew the stupidity of including this hadith in their compilation.  (Food for thought indeed!!!)

i.       “Sahih” Muslim - Book 001, Hadith Number 0297:

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Dharr that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) one day said: Do you know where the sun goes? They replied: Allah and His Apostle know best.

He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Verily it (the sun) glides till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it falls prostrate and remains there until it is asked: Rise up and go to the place whence you came, and it goes back and continues emerging out from its rising place and then glides till it reaches its place of rest under the Throne and falls prostrate and remains in that state until it is asked: Rise up and return to the place whence you came, and it returns and emerges out from it rising place and the it glides (in such a normal way) that the people do not discern anything (unusual in it) till it reaches its resting place under the Throne. Then it would be said to it: Rise up and emerge out from the place of your setting, and it will rise from the place of its setting.

The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said. Do you know when it would happen? It would happen at the time when faith will not benefit one who has not previously believed or has derived no good from the faith.

Verily it goes and begs permission, for prostration (to Allah) and the permission is granted to it. Once it would be said: Return to the place whence you came, and then it would rise from its setting place. Then he, after the recitation of 'Abdullah recited it: And that is its appointed term.

If I believe this crap, When it is 6.30pm in Sri Lanka I will conclude that the sun is resting under Allah’s throne awaiting permission the to rise the next day – but I know it is 4.00 pm ‘Asr time in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and 01.00 PM Luhar/Lunch time in England and the sun is not resting under Allah’s Throne at sunset Sri Lankan time.  Unless of course there is a different sun in Saudi Arabia and another one in England – What a Joke.

This is indeed a Stupid explanation by Bukhari & Muslim on the Quranic Ayath.

What I cannot stand is, attributing such stupidity to the Holy Prophet (S) by Bukhari and Muslim.
